Spelling

Spelling is one of those tricky things that can make a student feel "not smart".  My father, who is one of the smartest people I know, is terrible at spelling.  He can fix anything,  which to me is a amazing.  He also, at the age of 85 years old, has purchased and mastered his new ipad!  Yet, depsite all of his obvious talents and skills, he feels that he is not smart because he can't spell well.

Spelling and grammar are important for clear communication ... write?  right?   correct?

It is a fact that people judge others based on correct spelling and grammar usage.  If there are spelling mistakes in a resume, that person will not be getting an interview.  But the real reason for not getting a job due to spelling mistakes, is due to lack of attention to detail and care; it is not due to a lack of intelligence.

Remember, dictionaries and spell check were invented because people need to give attention to the detail of spelling and word usage.  People are not born knowing how to spell;  people are born to learn.

Here are some helpful links and resources to help with spelling.
